I've been thinking a lot
about God's incredible nature. I've been able to see him in the trees
and the beautiful fall leaves. I have become more in tune like never
before to see His handy work in the world that we live in. Rich Mullins
sang the beautiful and praise worthy song with the lyric making a
great announcement to the world "Our God Is An Awesome God".
When I was with the group Acappella, we sang a song called "We
Have Seen His Glory". These songs that declare the unbelievable
presence of God should be a constant, honoring and recognizable position
by His children to Him always.
Janae and I were flying to do a concert in Dallas Texas recently.
We went through the normal, annoying but necessary security procedures
there at the airport. As we boarded and began to push back from
the airport and approached the runway. I thought, wow it is incredible
for man to invent a steel cabin with wings that can fly. What a
reflection of God who gives him the mental, scientific and creative
ability to succeed. I often wonder how a cruise ship that weighs
approximately 175,000 tons, can remain above the water. Compared
to, if you were standing on the deck of that same ship and dropped
a 15 oz. steel ball over the edge, it would sink to the bottom.
It leaves us with the realization that we serve a God who cannot
be measured with common logic.
As we flew toward Dallas, the higher we got the smaller things became
that normally are huge such as trees, diesel trucks, and buildings.
As we went higher we could no longer see any of those things. The
thought hit me, who are we? and where do we get the gall to think
we are actually something? (Prov. 8:4-5) I then looked at the clouds,
the vastness of the expanse beyond the horizon and I thought Our
God is truly Awesome.
When we returned home, I was sitting on the back porch thinking of
that moment and I asked myself, if there is one word that describes
God, what would that word be? My answer was, there is no single word
that can describe God. He's IMMEASURABLE.
He cannot be measured. What a concept… Meanwhile back in Tennessee,
Doug Beiden the producer of this record was working on music for a
song for the album. The next morning, there was the music for a song
on my computer from Doug. I do not consider myself a songwriter, but
that thought of God's IMMEASURABLE presence
was still on my mind. I took a pen and paper and wrote the words of
the title song, "IMMEASURABLE".
This song is a testimony of Gods, goodness, His greatness and a revelation
of the IMMEASURABLE love that he grants
to all of us. |
